Friday, Sept. 6 End of Season |
Golden Sands Speedway - We had a great car tonight despite our finishes. We started the Heat race in 7th and finished 6th as traffic just didn't break for us. We started 6th in the Consi, and after a couple of cars up front got together causing a chain reaction, we ended up getting into someone and the radiator was damaged. We ended up 7th. Results

Golden Sands Speedway - We started the Heat race in 7th and finished 3rd. We started and finished 8th in the B-Feature. It was very nice to see a sponsor of ours, (Drees Transportation), Tom Drees and his wife and two kids come to the track to enjoy some great racing action at Central Wisconsin's Power Playground. Golden Sands Speedway - We had to replace the right front hub when we discovered that the inside race had separated from the hub and ruined the hub. Then we had to rebuild the right front caliper because it was sticking. We started the Heat race in 5th and finished 3rd. We started and finished the B-Feature in 12th. Results

Golden Sands Speedway - We picked up a new sponsor this week, Drees Transportation of Peshtigo, which helped out greatly with our clutch expenses. We replaced the floater plates, pressure plates, and discs. We converted our four disc back to a 3 disc, mainly to cut some of the expense. We started 6th in the Heat race and after some "contact racing", we finished 4th. We started 6th in the C-Feature and finished 6th as some cars seem to have a hard time finding one line to run when they are being challenged. Results

Golden Sands Speedway - After we qualified, we noticed that the toe on the car was !/2 inch out. That's not a good thing. We also noticed that the heim joints on the tie rods are very worn. Not good either, because of course that effects toe. We started 4th in the heat and won it! We started 10th in the B-Feature and came in 7th. We now have well over 200 laps on our rear tires, another thing not good, but we have to make due with what we've got, I guess. Either my rear tires were spinning while coming out of the corners in the B-Feature, or the clutch is slipping again. Hope we can find some more green backs soon! Results

Golden
Sands Speedway - Ever have one of those days where nothing goes right. Well, we
did last night. We started 5th in Heat 1 and early in the race when some cars in front of
me seemed to check up, I had to also, and got tapped in the rear which sent me around.
After starting one up from last in the restart we came back and finished 5th. After the race, Dick Coleman, who happened to come down and watch some racing, noticed that our left rear spring was collapsed. We borrowed one from Monte Gress, the pilot of the 107.5 Asphalt Rocket, but the car still wasn't what I would call optimum, but we were at least out there making an attempt to compete. I would like to give Dick and Monte another huge "THANK YOU" for their help. We started 8th in the B-Feature and again was the recipient of bad luck when two other cars got together and one of them nailed me from the side ruining my left rear wheel. The car wouldn't handle too good after that so I pulled off early and we finished 13th. Results |

Golden
Sands Speedway - We qualified into the second heat again this week. Had kind of a
goofy night. The track gave the Late Models one new tire, and allowed us to buy one if we
wanted too. So, we put our two new tires on and went out to hot lap, which was
incidentally right after the little Budweiser "house" cars went out. One of them
lost something from their car, which had a bolt in it and I found it with my new right
front tire. I only had 8-10 laps on it and it had a huge hole in it. I talked with the
track promoter and he was kind enough to give me another new tire in exchange for the one
with the hole in it. In the second Heat race we started on the pole and we were leading with three laps to go and two cars got tangled up and the caution came out. This didn't help me out at all as we finished third. Then I started on the pole of the B-Feature and before the first lap was complete there was a caution, and we had to start again, from the top. When I went into turn one, my car pushed uncontrollably, and when it did it again, in turn three, I decided to just pull into the infield until I could get across the track to the pits. Then, something else happened on the track right away, and this time the caution helped us as I was able to pit. We had another flat on the right front. We changed it and went on to a 9th place finish. Results |

Marshfield Super Speedway - We got rained out Friday at Golden Sands Speedway, so we waited another day and went to Marshfield Super Speedway on Saturday. We just put on our oldest tires from this year so we didn't put any more wear on our weekly tires for G.S. We opted to start last in both the heat race and the A-Feature, as we are not running there weekly and the weekly guys are running for points. Started 8th in the Heat, finishing 6th. We started 17th in the A-Feature and finished 12th. Had a blast. Nice to see pit slabs there now and Jim Langreck, the track owner, said that the pits will be paved in a couple of weeks.Very nice facility. Results

Golden Sands Speedway - We qualified into the 2nd Heat again. We started 1st in the Heat race and .....WE WON IT!. What an incredible thing that was for us. The car was hooked up and it felt great! We started 2nd in the B-Feature, and took a 4th place finish. Results

Golden Sands Speedway - We qualified into the 2nd Heat again. We started 1st in the Heat race and finished 8th. The car handled better this week, but for some reason, our front sway bar popped out of the pocket on the left side, so it didn't help me any. We started 1st in the B-Feature, and settled for a 5th place finish. Results
Friday, May 31 |
Golden Sands Speedway - We started 8th in the Heat race and worked our way up to fourth, then with the white flag out I got to the back stretch and because a few cars got real squirrelly, I had to dive to the inside only to go too low and into the infield, but that was better than a possible wreck. We finished 8th. We started 8th in the B-Feature, and had a push in the car but still managed a 6th place finish. On the way home the next morning, we stopped at Kevin Beyer's house and put the car on scales, (First time on scales since August of 2000). It was WAY off. So we got it back on track for next week in hopes for a better performance. Results

Golden Sands Speedway - We replaced the four clutch discs, and dial indicated our bellhousing in, and put in a rebuilt transmission this week. We qualified into the 2nd Heat this week, for the first time ever at Golden Sands. We started 3rd and after getting tangled up with another car, we ended up 6th. We started the B-Feature on the pole and finished 7th. The car just didn't seem to want to stick to the track as it did in the heat race, but we are out of sync with tires as we have not been rotating in a new tire each week like we should be. Golden Sands Speedway - Even though we knew the clutch was slipping last week, we had no time to put in the new clutch discs for this week, (because I had to indicate my bell housing in, as it's supposed to be within .005 and it was actually at .045) and we went racing anyway. The weather was very cold, so the track promoter, Craig Bassuenner, asked all of the drivers, one by one, if we should drop the heat races and add some laps to the features so that the fans didn't have to sit so long in the cold and that's exactly what we did. I started on the pole for the 20 lap B-Feature, and even though my clutch was slipping, I finished 4th. Results
Friday, May 10 |
Golden Sands Speedway - I figured out why the engine was breaking up so bad, so we had a better running car tonight. We started 6th in the Heat race and finished 3rd. In the B- Feature we started 3rd and finished 4th, even though the clutch started to slip about half way through the race. Results
Friday, May 3 |
Golden Sands Speedway - Felt great to be back at the track again, even though the engine was breaking up all night. We started 3rd in the Heat race and finished 4th. In the B- Feature we started 9th and finished 10th. We also picked up two new sponsors this year, Golden Eagle Log Homes- from WI Rapids, and AmericInn of Plover. Results
